Biblical definition of ministry is “diakonos” (Greek διάκονος) which means “to serve.”
We minister in three directions:
To the Lord
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
1 Peter 2:9
To Other Believers
For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
You are the light of with world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
