Our 5 Big Rocks

Our 5 Big Rocks are foundational statements that undergird everything we do.  These Biblical foundations are non negotiable and everything we do comes from them.  Our mission vision  and specific core values come from these

Christ Centered  (Grace Centered)
We are Christ centered.  Which means that we are centered on the gospel message that Jesus Christ came from heaven, took on flesh, lived a sinless life, and died on a cross for our sins.  This gift is offered by grace alone through faith.  We put our trust (faith)  in Christ forgiving act and He forgives us (grace).  It means that you are welcome to come to RiverValley just as you are and we hope you find grace here.  We are Christ centered.
Philippians 2:1-11, 2 Corinthians 8:7, Romans 8:9-11, John 14:15, John 14:25

Bible Based
We believe the Bible is the Word of God given to us by God as the primary catalyst for transformation of individual lives and of the church. This includes the concept of teaching for life change and character growth. God’s word is more than ideas that we only acknowledge. It must translate into how we live our daily lives.
2 Timothy 3:16-17, James 1:23-25

Prayer Enabled
We believe prayer enables us to know God and His purposes so that we can be responsive to His plans. It is vital to pray frequently as individuals and as a church to seek God and His power so that we can be more responsive to His purposes and plans.
Ephesians 6:18, 1 Timothy 5:17,  Matthew 21:13, Matthew 6:6, John 16:24, Luke 6:12, Mark 1:35-39

Discipleship Focused

We believe that all believers are called to make disciples.  The church accomplishes this primarily through building relationships.  The act of discipleship we describe as coming along side of someone with the purpose of helping them grow in Christ  The church, therefore, needs to teach believers to reach out to lost people.  Lost people matter to God, and therefore, ought to matter to the church resulting in a priority given to reaching them with the gospel and establishing them in the faith.
Luke 15, Matthew 18:14, 1 Corinthians 9:19-23, Malachi 1:6-14, Proverbs 27:17, Philemon 6

Community Upheld
We believe that a Christ-like community should be experienced and that this happens most effectively in life groups where we help and serve each other. In a Christ-like community, people are known, accepted and encouraged, and will become open, vulnerable and accountable. This happens best within life groups as genuine, meaningful, life-changing relationships are sustained. Our definition for life groups is 3-8 people approximately who gather regularly to encourage and stimulate one another toward Christ-likeness.
